MLK Youth Citizenship Awards

Saturday,  January 19, 2019 @ 10 AM  •  Muncie Central High School Auditorium

Every year, the Dream Team hosts a MLK Youth Citizenship Award Ceremony for young people in Delaware County. Students are nominated by teachers and staff for possessing qualities similar to Dr. Martin Luther King. These qualities include integrity, leadership, and the drive to make a difference at their school.
 

Black History Month Kick Off

Be a part of this annual event featuring, a free continental breakfast, speakers, MLK Essay contest winners, community leaders, and a silent auction or other fundraising activity to benefit the projects of the MLK Dream Team. Event is generally held the first Saturday of February each year. Thanks to Minnetrista for hosting this annual event!  Thanks to Mutual Bank for sponsoring the cash prizes to essay winners!
 

Black History Month Food Drive

February 2019  •  Muncie Community Schools

The Black History Month Food Drive takes place each February at all Muncie Community Schools. Students and staff generously donate food items to help those less fortunate in our community. All items are given to Christian Ministries to help those in need.Thanks to the Muncie Sanitary District for providing toters and for helping to deliver the donated food items.

National Day of Prayer

The MLKDT hosts the National Day of Prayer at Muncie City Hall Auditorium. Everyone is welcome to drop in!

Muncie-Delaware County Walk of Fame

Open Daily During Park Hours  •  Heekin Park 

The Muncie-Delaware County Walk of Fame is a historical project undertaken by the Martin Luther King, Jr. Dream Team, Muncie Public Library, and the City of Muncie. The project features a quarter mile walking path lined with engraved plaques that tell the story of those who made a difference in the Civil Rights Movement in our community. The welcome plaque is located directly across from the Vietnam War Memorial in Heekin Park.
