Black History Month Kick Off Event

Every year, students across Muncie have the opportunity to participate in a Black History Month essay contest. Essays are due during the month of December. Winners are chosen in January, and the essays are presented at the Black History Kick Off event in February.

Annual Day of Prayer Event

Thursday, May 3, 2018  •  Muncie City Hall

This nondenominational time of prayer takes places in correspondence with the National Day of Prayer.

Annual MLK Youth Citizenship Award Ceremony for Young People in Delaware County

Saturday,  January 13, 2018 @ 10 AM  •  Muncie Central High School Auditorium

Every year, the Dream Team hosts a MLK Youth Citizenship Award Ceremony for young people in Delaware County. Students are nominated by teachers and staff for possessing qualities similar to Dr. Martin Luther King. These qualities include integrity, leadership, and the drive to make a difference at their schools/communities.

Canned Food Drives

February 2018  •  Muncie Schools

This annual event occurs during the month of February within all Muncie Community Schools. Toters, graciously supplied by the Muncie Sanitary District, are filled with non-perishable food items to be donated to Christian ministries to fill their food pantries. Collectively, students donate thousands of items every year to benefit the Muncie community.

Muncie-Delaware County Walk of Fame

The Muncie-Delaware County Walk of Fame is a historical project undertaken by the Martin Luther King, Jr. Dream Team, Muncie Public Library and the City of Muncie. The project is dedicated to residents who worked to advance civil rights and embrace diversity. Please register for the event here
