Each year, teachers throughout Delaware County are invited to have their students write essays on a selected theme. Winners are chosen in January and the winning essays are presented at the Black History Month Kick Off Event. Muncie Community School administrators present the awards with assistance from a representative of Northwest Bank. The MLK Dream Team thanks Northwest Bank for its generous sponsorship of the cash prizes each year!<\/p><\/div><\/div>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Two scholarships are awarded each spring to deserving graduating Delaware County seniors whose high school activities reflect the ideals of Dr. King's dream. Scholarship partners are MLK Dream Team, Muncie NAACP, Muncie Delaware County Black Chamber of Commerce, and the Indiana Black Expo Muncie Chapter. Two Indiana Academy seniors, Vivana Bhagat and Brooklyn Grey, were selected as 2026 recipients. Muncie Central HS senior Victoria Young was awarded an educational stipend. <\/p><\/div><\/div>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Every year, the Dream Team hosts a MLK Youth Citizenship Award Ceremony for young people in Delaware County. Students are nominated by teachers and staff for possessing qualities similar to Dr. Martin Luther King.
